OUR HISTORY

1991 - With the founding of T.H.W. The Hockey Wholesalers GmbH, the Hamburger Christian Cohrs, a longtime Harvestehuder THC hockey player, turns his hobby into a career. 
The first successes are rapidly visible: after gaining the exclusive distribution rights for the world’s first foam legguards and kickers from the English brands Mercian and Slazenger, the Pakistani brand MALIK also joins the growing T.H.W. team. With the winning combo: Mercian, Slazenger and MALIK, T.H.W. has developed in a short period into one of the leading hockey wholesalers in Germany.

Those who have proven themselves in their homeland must move on to international terrain: in 1993 T.H.W. obtained the MALIK distribution rights for Switzerland, Austria and France, in 1998 for Belgium and Holland.
What is a team without an amazing goalie? In 2003 T.H.W. teams up with the world leading goalie equipment manufacturer OBO and secures the exclusive distribution rights for several countries.

The next big deal: T.H.W. strengthens its lineup with the addition of the exclusive distribution rights for hockey products of the top brand adidas for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In the summer of 2007 Benelux, France and Eastern Europe are added to the squad, later several Asian countries such as China, India, Korea and Malaysia.

In 2020 T.H.W. entered a new field: Padel, the fastest growing sport in Europe. Since November 2020 we are distributor for adidas Padel for the Germany.

Being no longer a pure hockey company, we renamed to T.H.W. Sport Equipment GmbH.

At the beginning of 2021, T.H.W. broke new ground and expanded its portfolio with the acquisition and integration of the sports retail business PECO, a state of the art 250m2 hockey shop in the heart of Hamburg.

In 2023 we teamed up with Y1, a young, fast growing and heavily desired UK hockey brand. Since 2024, T.H.W. is responsible for Y1 products across Europe.

Today, we distribute sport equipment around the globe with a team of 20.

With more than 2000 square metres and its central location in the regio of Bielefeld (North Rhine-Westphalia/Germany), our modern warehouse offers perfect conditions to process and ship our customer orders as quick as possible.

What began 50 years ago as a retailer and specialist mail order company for table tennis products has developed over the years into an institution on the hockey market. In August 2022, PECO Sport opened a new shop on an area of over 250m².

In addition to hockey articles, adidas Padel, as well as fitness and running products are available for purchase.
